Decision Points: OT Fit-For-Purpose Or IT

Think OT Needs Special Tools?

Armexa CTO, Eric Forner, presented a virtual encore of his thought-provoking presentation he delivered at this year’s S4x25 in Tampa.

Eric speaks to the OT cybersecurity technology stack within every level of the Purdue Model. In his talk, he explores whether OT fit-for-purpose technology or traditional IT solutions are more appropriate. Eric demonstrates that while OT has specialized risk, architecture, and implementation requirements, it does not require unique technology. In most cases, a mature and well configured IT solution can better meet OT requirements than a bespoke OT solution.

Eric Forner steers Armexa’s technical strategy by spearheading the identification, development, and implementation of ICS/OT security technologies and architectures. With deep expertise in OT ICS security operations and engineering, industrial network design, and plant floor systems integrations, he brings extensive experience across various technologies in process controls, building automation, and enterprise IT.
